Come and Sing Online:
Stainer's Crucifixion

Welcome to our first lockdown project. Registration for this has now ended.

With the national lockdown enforced weeks before Easter Sunday, a crucial time for singers with several services with varying music, and churches closed, many not yet online we felt that we needed to do something. Stainer's Crucifixion is an oratorio that follows Jesus' final few hours here on this earth. With both tenor and bass solos, it really is a magnificent piece.

We produced backing tracks with a live organ (recorded and learnt in one day by Caius) with four fantastic singers singing guide tracks. Over 75 people signed up, and we all had lots of fun either singing at home or submitting it remotely. Many more in the local community enjoyed listening in to the virtual performance and although it doesn't replicate the church services we hope it gave people solace that although isolated we are still here for each other.
