Our York course has a little of everything for all choral lovers from our notation masterclasses, to renaissance gems, to the grandeur of standard Anglican choral evensong repertoire, making it the perfect weekend away. The music learnt will be sung in different liturgical settings and so require varied repertoire choices.
The ancient service of compline sung during sunset focuses on chant and Josquin to celebrate 500 years since his death.
The Sunday morning Latin Mass uses Gregorian chant, a variety of movements from different mass settings from around Europe, and motets from the renaissance.
Finally, the evensong repertoire contains music taken from almost any Cathedral music list.
As part of the course fee, all music is provided, and this is yours to keep. This means that you can make useful markings in them that you can keep for life.
While primarily aimed at the amateur singer comfortable with sight-reading, this does not exclude participants who study the music before the course. All materials will be sent out to attendees before the start of the course.
